Freshman Liz Pezzello (Mount Kisco, NY) also had a strong meet, winning three medals for the Mount. She took gold in the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 34.24 seconds. That time marked the second of two HVWAC Championship records the Dolphins would set at the event. Pezzello also took two silver medals, placing second in the 100-yard IM and the 100-yard backstroke.
Other medal winners for the Mount include Kim Abbott (Malone, NY) who took bronze in the 50-yard freestyle and silver in the 200-yard event and freshman Katherine Maddock (Middletown, RI) who took the bronze medal in the 200-yard free for the Mount.
Four Dolphins were honored at the championships, as Cabahug, Megan Clark (Silver Spring, MD), and Pezzello were named HVWAC All-Conference. For the second straight season Clark was named the league’s Coach of the Year after leading the Dolphins to a 4-2 overall record and 3-1 mark in the HVWAC.
The Mount will be back in the pool for a Skyline Conference meet on January 26 when they swim against St. Joseph’s (LI) and Mount Saint Mary.
