Against Sarah Lawrence the Dolphins had five first place finishes, including two each from Michelle Cabahug (Queens Village, NY) and Liz Pezzello (Mount Kisco, NY). Cabahug took the top spot in the 50 and 100-yard backstroke, while Pezzello won the 50 and 100-yard breaststroke. Kim Abbott (Malone, NY) was also a winner for the Dolphins, taking the 200-yard freestyle.
The Mount picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday night with a strong all-around performance. The Dolphins opened the meet win a win the in 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Cabahug, Pezzello, Marie Garcia (Medford, MA), and Megan Clark (Silver Spring, MD) posted a time of 2:15.50.
Mount Saint Vincent also was strong in the freestyle events, as it posted a sweep in the 100-yard free against the Blue Angels. Andrea de la Torre (Valley Stream, NY) took first place and was followed by Chelsea Arduini in second and Siobhan Fisher taking third. Abbott posted victories in the 500-yard free with a time of 6:43.94, the 50 free and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:28.21.
Cabahug and Pezzello had strong swims, as both posted victories in two events for the second straight time. Cabahug won the 50 back in a time of 33.36 seconds and the 100-yard back in a time of 1:14.80. Pezzello bested the field in the 50 and 100-yard breaststroke on Wednesday for the Mount.
Garcia placed first in the 100-yard individual medley in a time of 1:20.38 and then teamed with Clark, Cabahug, and de la Torre for a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 2:08.21.
At 1-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference, the Dolphins will return to the pool on Saturday, November 10 then they swim at Purchase.
