Mount Saint Vincent falls 3-0 at Baruch
Flaherty leads team with nine kills
10/17/2007 - NEW YORK, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women’s Volleyball squad was defeated 3-0 in a non-conference match at Baruch on Tuesday night. Scores of the match were 28-30, 14-30, and 20-30 in favor of the Bearcats. Meghan Flaherty (Yonkers, NY) led the Dolphins in the match with nine kills.

In addition to her nine winners, Flaherty also posted seven defensive digs and recorded an assists for the Mount. Katie Balch (Peekskill, NY) contributed seven kills for the Dolphins and added a service ace and a dig.

Bridget Leonard (Poughkeepsie, NY) led the team with 15 assists in the match and also recorded three kills and a pair of service aces. Fellow setter Irma Nepomuceno (Bronx, NY) had a solid all around match for Mount Saint Vincent, posting a pair of kills, three assists, and nine defensive digs.

Lisa O’Shea (White Plains, NY) led the way in digs for the Mount, recording 17 in the match. Other strong performances on defense were turned in by Edeana Martinez (Bronx, NY) who had two solo blocks, while Christina Pierre (Bronx, NY) and Balch each totaled one total block each.

The loss drops the Dolphins to 10-10 overall on the season. They will return to action this Friday when they take part in the Cougar Classic hosted by Kean University. Mount Saint Vincent will take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Friday at the Classic at 4:00 p.m. and then Polytechnic at 6:00 p.m.
