Dolphins clipped by Golden Eagles in Women’s Soccer
Alessi makes 15 saves in goal
10/6/2007 - PATCHOGUE, NY – The Dolphins Women’s Soccer squad fell in a hard fought contest at St. Joseph’s-Long Island 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles scored one goal in each half for the win. Mount Saint Vincent senior goalkeeper, Alexis Alessi (Rockville Centre, NY) had an outstanding afternoon, making 15 saves in the game.

St. Joseph’s got on the board at the 28:50 mark on an unassisted goal by Angie Merante. She dribbled in to the right and put the ball in the right corner for the eventual game winner. The Golden Eagles scored an insurance goal just 1:33 into the second half on an Elizabeth Jentz goal. She took a pass from Jackie Lento and finished to the right corner.

Alessi kept the Dolphins in the game on Saturday with her 15 saves. The Golden Eagles held a commanding 29-1 advantage in shots in the game.

For the game, St. Joseph’s held the edge in corner kicks at 8-0, while fouls were 7-1 against the Golden Eagles in the contest.

At 5-5 overall on the season and now 2-1 within the Skyline Conference, the Dolphins will be back on the pitch at Russell Sage on Wednesday. Kick-off in Albany is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
