What non-degree courses are offered through the School of Professional and Continuing Studies?
Currently, we offer 5 non-degree courses through the SPCS. They are:
- SHRM Learning System® HR certification course
- SHRM® Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate Program
- New York Real Estate Salesperson Qualifying Course
- Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Preparation Course (3 Modules)
- English Language Skills for Professionals Course
We are continuously looking at expanding the types of courses we offer based on feedback from our students. Check back with us on a regular basis to stay up to date with our non-degree course offerings.
We run courses throughout the year, during the fall, winter and summer semesters. This upcoming fall 2007, our non-degree courses begin the week of September 10th.
Are all of the classes offered held at the Riverdale campus?
Yes. At the moment, all of our non-degree courses are being offered at the Riverdale campus only. The College of Mount Saint Vincent is located at 6301 Riverdale Avenue in Riverdale, New York. For more information about how to get to campus please click here. We are looking into the possibility of holding classes at our mid-town location some time in the future.
When do I need to register for the course I would like to take?
You can register up to one or two days before the class you are interested in begins. However, we recommend you register prior to that time, ideally up to two weeks in advance, as registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and early registration will help to ensure you obtain a spot in the class. Also, for those courses where the course materials are included in the tuition for the class, registration in advance enables the student to obtain their course materials prior to the first day of classes if they wish.

Can any of the non-degree courses be applied as credit towards my degree?
No. Although many of our non-degree courses are certification preparation programs, each of our non-degree classes are non-credit courses. This means that upon successful completion of one of our non-degree courses, no credits can be transferred to any of our degree, for-credit programs. The SPCS is in the process of launching two new Baccalaureate degrees that will commence in January 2008. Additional information about these two bachelor's programs will be available on our website shortly. Any classes taken through our degree, for-credit classes can be, if appropriate, transferred towards completion of one of our degree programs. If you have questions about applying to one of our degree programs, and would like to speak with a member of the SPCS staff, please contact us at 718-405-3322, to set up an appointment.
Where can I get more information about the course I am interested in?
For more information on each of our non-degree courses, including the registration form and information about the College's tuition refund policy, please visit the home page for the SPCS's non-degree programs.
