The School of Professional and Continuing Studies offers a number of different non-degree programs throughout the year. These courses are typically offered either during the week in the evening or on the weekend, depending upon the course. The SHRM Learning System® HR certification course helps to prepare human resource professionals for either the Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) or the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR® ) exam.
The SHRM® Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate Program is an introductory course offering a comprehensive overview of the human resource function. The course covers today’s most vital and timely topics, including employment law, selecting qualified employees, compensation, orientation and training, and the employee performance process.
In order to acquire a New York State Real Estate Salesperson License, completion of this course is required. Topics covered in the course include license law and regulations, law of agency, real estate instruments, estates and interests, real estate financing, land use regulations, an introduction to construction, valuation, human rights issues, fair housing law, real estate mathematics and environmental issues.
To earn the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification (MOS), office professionals must pass a series of Microsoft exams in Word, Excel and Power Point. These three modules are designed to help prepare for the certification examination.
This course is designed for individuals who have some spoken English skills and who wish to improve their speaking and reading abilities. This course includes personalized attention to aid the student in improving their English speaking and reading skills.
This 50 hour course will prepare students to enter the field of pharmacy and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other health care settings, working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
The Phlebotomy Technician Program is a 90 hour course that prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and will develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely.
This course prepares students to work effectively many of the administrative and clerical positions in the health care industry. This 50 hour course covers topics such as anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, medical ethics, customer service, and legal aspects of the health care industry.
