16 matches highlight 2007 slate as Dolphins look to improve on two straight successful seasons
5/31/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - The 2007 season promises to be an exciting one for Women's Tennis in the Skyline Conference as the addition of six new programs should lead to one of the most intriguing and exciting seasons in recent memory. For Mount Saint Vincent, the expansion means a slew of new matches as the Dolphins will take to the court a whopping 16 times this Fall as the Mount competes against the biggest schedule the program has seen in more than four years. Coming off of a 5-7 finish in 2005 and a 4-7 conclusion to the 2006 season, Mount Saint Vincent is primed and ready for the challenge of competing for two conference championships.

The 2007 campaign opens on Wednesday, Sept. 12 when the Mount hosts the College of Staten Island at 4:00 p.m. for their only non-conference match of the season. From there, the next 15 matches will be against a member of either the Skyline Conference or Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC). After the opener, four of the Mount's next six matches will be at home as the Dolphins host Skyline Conference newcomer Bard on Sept. 15 before traveling to the Pratt Institute for their HVWAC opener two days later. On Wednesday, Sept. 19 the Mount welcomes another Skyline newbie, Russell Sage, for a 4:00 p.m. match. After a trip to St. Joseph's (LI) on Sept. 22, Mount Saint Vincent hosts consecutive matches with Old Westbury and the College of New Rochelle on Sept. 25 and 27, respectively.

After the Old Westbury match, the Mount will have a challenge as six of their next seven matches will be on the road. The Mount goes back to back on Sept. 29 and 30 when they face Skyline Conference newcomer Polytechnic on Saturday, and on Sunday will face St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) for an HVWAC match at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York. After a trip to Mount Saint Mary on Oct. 3, the Dolphins return home two days later to face Saint Elizabeth on Friday, Oct. 5 at 4:00 p.m. Then the Mount hits the road again for three matches in a five-day span, starting with a clash with 2006 HVWAC Champion Cooper Union on Oct. 6 at 12:00 at the National Tennis Center. On Oct. 9, the Mount heads to Sarah Lawrence, and two days later they travel to Farmingdale State for their 2007 road finale.

The final two matches of the 2007 season will be at home as the Dolphins host the final Skyline Conference newcomer, Purchase College on Oct. 13 and Yeshiva University on Oct. 15.

The post-season begins on Wednesday, Oct. 17 with the Skyline Conference Semifinals with the Conference Finals taking place three days later. The HVWAC Championships will be on Sunday, Oct. 28 at the National Tennis Center.

Mount Saint Vincent's 4-7 finish in 2006 included a fifth-place finish in the Skyline Conference, and a fourth place finish in the HVWAC.
