Marra voted HVWAC Coach of the Year for Softball
Seventh year Coach leads Dolphins to remarkable turn-around/HVWAC Tournament Championship
5/25/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - One of the most remarkable softball seasons in recent history for Mount Saint Vincent has led to the highest possible honor for the program's Head Coach as seventh-year coach Mary Marra was voted the 2007 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Coach of the Year. The honor marks the second time during her career that Marra has earned the honor as she was voted the Conference's top coach after the 2002 campaign.
Mount Saint Vincent Head Softball Coach Mary Marra was voted the 2007 HVWAC Coach of the Year after leading the Dolphins to a 15-14 overall record and the HVWAC Tournament Championship. The award was the second during Marra's seven-year career at Mount Saint Vincent.

Marra earned the award after leading Mount Saint Vincent to a 15-14 overall record (after a 15-24 finish during the 2006 season). The Dolphins finished the '07 season tied for first place in the HVWAC, but entered the HVWAC tournament as the #2 seed due to the conference tie-breaker. The lower seed did not matter when the post-season came around as the Dolphins swept through the playoffs without allowing a run, and their 2-0 win over St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) in the Finals gave the Dolphins their first tournament crown in five years.

Overall, Marra coached three HVWAC All-Conference picks, all of which were freshmen, and with a strong nucleus that includes seven starters returning for the 2008 campaign, it appears as if another run at the HVWAC Championship is possible.
