It is quite possible that the Mount Saint Vincent Rookie of the Year during the 2006-07 athletics season was neither an athlete nor a coach, but in fact may very well have been the Head Athletic Trainer as Barima Yeboah proved to be a stand-out in his position from the day he set foot on campus. A 2006 graduate of Stony Brook University, Yeboah could be one of the youngest Head Athletic Trainers in the country, but despite his youth he established himself as a rising star in the profession. Not only did Yeboah perform admirably while working with all 16 Mount Saint Vincent teams in the areas of injury care and prevention, but he also proved to be skilled at assisting Mount Saint Vincent Athletes in both rehabilitation and strength and conditioning work. His success behind the scenes allowed the Mount Saint Vincent Athletics Department to enjoy one of its finest seasons, ever.
Yeboah came to the Mount after attending Stony Brook, where he received two bachelor’s degrees and worked for the Athletic Training Department for two and a half years before graduating with his second degree in Athletic Training in June of 2006. While at Stony Brook, Anyane provided coverage for nearly a dozen of the Seawolves’ Division I teams, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s lacrosse. While studying at Stony Brook, he also worked as a trainer for William Floyd High School and as a Teaching Assistant in the Stony Brook Athletic Training Education Program. He also enjoyed a position in the University’s Department of Campus Recreation as an Intramural Sports Coordinator, and earned several awards for his service to the institution, including the Backbone Athletic Training Student Award in the Spring of 2006.
Yeboah currently lives in Chestnut Ridge, New York.
