Junior Anthony Palandro pitched five strong innings, allowing only on earned run as the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team scored a 10-3 win over the College of Staten Island on Tuesday. Mount Saint Vincent finishes the 2007 season with an 11-19 overall record. |
The Mount held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning when the Dolphins exploded for six runs to put the game away. The key blows were a two-run single by Munroe, and a two-run double by junior Nick Canzano (Farmington, NY/Victor Central HS) as Mount Saint Vincent broke into double digits for the first time in five games. Also for the Mount, juniors Logan Mauzy (Homer, NY/Homer Central HS) and Al Schor (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon HS) each had two hits and combined for three runs scored. Overall, the Mount combined for 11 hits and were able to capitalize on three CSI errors by scoring six unearned runs.
Mount Saint Vincent also received another terrific outing from junior Anthony Palandro (Westbury, NY/Clarke HS). The lefty pitched five strong innings, allowing only one run on four hits, and he struck out three while walking only one. Palandro finishes the season the Mount Saint Vincent leader in wins, strike-outs, and ERA among starting pitchers.
Without a single senior in the starting line-up, Mount Saint Vincent looks forward to 2008 when they will seek their first-ever Skyline Conference playoff berth.
