Sweeps Week: Adams/Martin earn top Skyline Conference honors for Women's Lacrosse; Adams named ECAC Co-Player of the Week
Duo combine to lead Mount Saint Vincent to 4-0 record and #3 seed for Skyline Conference playoffs
5/1/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - Coming off of a record-breaking week for the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team, the Mount set another new team standard by sweeping the Skyline Conference weekly awards as junior Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon HS) and freshman Kelly Martin (North Rockland, NY/North Rockland HS) were named the Skyline Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Adams becomes the first Women's Lacrosse player to ever earn Player of the Week honors, while Martin becomes the second Dolphin to get Rookie of the Week, and first in 2007. Adams was also honored regionally as she claimed ECAC Co-Player of the Week honors for her outstanding efforts.
Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse freshman Kelly Martin was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for her efforts in leading the Mount to a 4-0 record. Martin combined for 16 goals, five assists, five ground balls and three draw controls as the Mount improved to 9-7 with four straight wins. Also for Mount Saint Vincent, junior Cyndi Adams was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week and ECAC Co-Player of the Week.

The duo was simply on fire this week, combining for 33 goals and eight assists as Mount Saint Vincent scored four straight wins, three of which were on the road. During a 17-7 win over Centenary on Monday, Adams set a school record with eight goals, and Martin broke the school record with nine points (five goals, four assists). All four of Martin's assists on Monday were to Adams. Two days later, the duo led the Mount to a 13-2 non-conference win over Ramapo College. On Friday night, Adams scored a hat-trick and Martin scored four times as Mount Saint Vincent outlasted Kean, 18-15 to secure the #3 seed in the Skyline Conference playoffs. On Sunday, Adams and Martin combined for eight goals and three assists as Mount Saint Vincent secured its third straight winning season with a 24-2 win over St. Joseph's (CT). During the win, Adams scored five times and became the first Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse player to ever score 100 career goals.

For the 2007 season, Adams leads the Mount in goals (40) and finished the season second on the team with 43 points. Martin is the Mount's points leader with 49 as she scored 36 goals and led the team with 13 assists.

Mount Saint Vincent is currently 9-7 overall and finished the season 4-2 in Skyline Conference play to earn the #3 seed. They will face second-seeded Stevens on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Skyline Conference Semifinals.
