Baseball swept by Rams during Skyline Conference doubleheader
Canzano has solid day at the plate but Dolphins allow 16 earned runs; MSV travels to Vassar on Wednesday as 2007 season winds down
4/29/2007 - (Farmingdale, NY) - Junior Nick Canzano (Farmington, NY/Victor Central HS) had two hits and had an RBI, and the Dolphin defense played two excellent games after a difficult week, but the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Farmingdale State, 10-4 and 6-2 on Sunday during games played at Farmingdale. With the losses, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 10-18 overall and 8-10 in Skyline Conference play.
Junior Nick Canzano had a combined two hits and an RBI, but the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Farmingdale State, 10-4 and 6-2 on Sunday during games played at Farmingdale State. The 10-18 Dolphins will look to break a three-game losing streak on Wednesday when they travel to Vassar College for a 4:00 p.m. start.

The opener saw the playoff-bound Rams and the Dolphins engage in a battle during the early going with each team scoring runs during the first three innings, and Farmingdale taking a 6-4 lead after three innings. However, from that point on the game was all Farmingdale as they scored six straight runs during the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to pull away for good. Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, NJ/Warren Hills Regional HS) and Nick Triolo (Homer, NY/Homer Central HS) each had two hits, while Josh Cuozzo (Westbury, NY/Clarke HS) went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Overall, Mount Saint Vincent had 11 hits, but left 12 runners on base.

The nightcap saw Farmingdale race out to a 4-0 first inning lead and never look back as Mount Saint Vincent combined for only five hits and one earned run.  Canzano went 2 for 3 with a walk, and junior Tanner Munroe (Milford, CT/Foran HS) had a hit and an RBI.

The Mount combined to make only three errors over two games, but unlike their play earlier in the week their bats could not keep up with Farmingdale's as the Rams were fighting for their post-season lives and clinched a playoff spot with the win.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Vassar College for a 4:00 p.m. start.
