It was a feel-good day all-around as prior to the start of the game, the Mount's first-ever four-year senior class for Women's Lacrosse was honored on Senior Day. Ashleigh Bennett (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island HS), Tara Staples (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendahowa HS), Beth Clark (Silver Spring, MD/St. John's Prep), and Teresa Escobar (Highland Falls, NY/O'Neill HS) were not only named Captains prior to the game and enjoyed an emotional ceremony highlighting their careers, but they also were a key part of the Mount's victory. The Dolphins scored twice during the game's first 4:18 to take the early lead, but a Blue Jay goal at 24:24 made it a 2-1 game.
That's when Adams and company took over. The attacker scored her 99th career goal at 21:54 to make it 3-1, and Escobar celebrated Senior Day with a goal 29 seconds later to make it 4-1. Up 8-1, Adams scored her second of the game and #100 for her career at 10:47 to make her first lacrosse player (Men's or Women's) in Mount Saint Vincent history to reach the milestone. The Mount extended the lead to 14-1 by halftime as Clark scored twice, as did McColgan and freshman Kelly Martin (North Rockland, NY/North Rockland HS).
The second half saw much of the same as the Mount outscored St. Joseph's 10-1. Clark scored at 10:32 for her first hat-trick, and Bennett added a goal of her own at 24:20 for her first goal of the 2007 season.
Overall, 12 Dolphins scored goals on Sunday, and Staples recorded three saves to score the 18th win of her career as she will graduate the all-time wins leader in Mount Saint Vincent history.
