Men's Lacrosse ends 2007 campaign with 12-2 loss to Skyline Conference foe Valiants
Egan makes 18 saves, O'Dougherty scores twice as Dolphins end first Skyline Conference season
4/21/2007 - (Valhalla, NY) - Sophomore Ryan O'Dougherty (Morristown, NJ/Morristown HS) scored twice and junior Tom Egan (Nyack, NY/Nyack HS) made a game-high 18 saves, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team ended the 2007 season with a 12-2 loss to Manhattanville College on Saturday during a game played at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, New York. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent finishes the season with a 2-12 overall record and 0-9 mark in their first season of Skyline Conference play.

Mount Saint Vincent had the upper hand early as O'Dougherty scored his first at 6:13 to put the Mount ahead 1-0. However, despite a possession edge thanks to 14 Manhattanville penalties, the Mount went on a scoring drought of more than 42 minutes as Manhattanville slowly took control of the game. The Valiants went on an 10-0 run as they scored twice during the remainder of the first quarter, three times during the second quarter and four times during the third quarter to extend the lead to 9-1. After Manhattanville made it 11-1 at 14:01 of the fourth quarter, O'Dougherty scored his second goal of the game 1:09 later to make it 11-2, but that was the closest Mount Saint Vincent would get. The Dolphins were competitive for much of the day, thanks to Egan, who was spectacular in net as he finished the 2007 season with an outstanding 195 saves.

Overall, Manhattanville enjoyed a 38-27 shots advantage and a 41-32 edge in ground balls, but the key to the game was the play of the Valiant extra man defense as Manhattanville killed off all 14 Dolphin extra man opportunities.

While the 2007 season ended on a low note for Mount Saint Vincent, with not a single senior on the roster, hopes are high that the 2008 campaign will bring with it new-found success and a higher level of play in the Skyline Conference.
