Baseball suffers 7-1 setback to Valiants in Skyline Conference battle

4/18/2007 - (Purchase, NY) - Junior Zach Munroe (Milford, CT/Foran HS) drove in a run with a fourth inning sacrifice fly, and pitchers John Olson (Seaford, NY/Seaford HS) and Mike Ruebenacker (Montvale, NJ/Pascack Hills HS) combined to allow only one earned run during four innings of work, but the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team suffered a 7-1 setback to Manhattanville College on Wednesday during a game played at Manhattanville. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent is now 5-13 overall and 3-7 in Skyline Conference play.
Junior Zach Munroe drove in the lone Dolphin run as the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team lost 7-1 to Manhattanville College on Wednesday during a game played at Manhattanville. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent is now 5-13 overall and 3-7 in Skyline Conference play.

A week after the Mount scored a 5-3 upset win over the Valiants, Manhattanville (12-13, 7-3 Skyline Conference) wasted little time getting the jump on the Dolphins as they scored twice durinig the first two innings and a run in the bottom of the third inning to lead 5-0. Munroe's Sacrifice Fly made it 5-1 in the fourth inning, but the Valiants scored a run in the bottom of the frame to bring the lead back to five. Manhattanville scored again in the bottom of the seventh inning for the 7-1 final.

The Mount combined for only three hits and seven baserunners during the game as four Manhattanville pitchers all but shut down the Dolphin offense.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, April 21 when they face Skyline Conference foe Maritime College for a 12:00 p.m. Skyline Conference doubleheader. The games will be played at SUNY Old Westbury.
