4/14/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - Junior Garrett Cooke (Wickford, RI/Bishop Hendricken) and sophomore Tristan Franz (Brooklyn, NY/Xavier) battled against some of the stiffest competition they have faced this season, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Tennis team was swept, 9-0 by Skyline Conference powerhouse Manhattanville College on Saturday during a match played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent is now 0-6 overall and 0-5 in Skyline Conference play.

After Manhattanville stormed through the first two rounds of doubles play, Mount Saint Vincent got a lift from Franz and doubles partner Vincent Cangiano (Green Brook, NJ/Watchung Hills HS), who continued their recent outstanding play. While the duo lost 8-1, the match was far closer than the score indicated. The doubles sweep by the Valiants set up singles play where Manhattanville won all six rounds, with Cooke providing the Mount with a spark while losing 6-2, 6-0 during a hotly contested match at #3 singles. Franz fell 6-1, 6-0 during another outstanding effort that was closer than the score indicated.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, April 16 when they host USMMA-Kings Point at 4:00 p.m.
