Women's Lacrosse sees two-game winning streak snapped by defending National Champion Lions, 13-0
Fortier, Horn combine for 21 saves; Dolphin defense holds TCNJ to five goals during final 40 minutes of play; MSV hosts Morrisville State on Friday
4/10/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - Freshman goalies Nicole Fortier (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme HS) and Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville HS) combined to stop 21 out of 34 shots on goal and the Dolphin defense allowed a mere five goals during the final 40 minutes of play, but the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team lost 13-0 to the College of New Jersey - the nation's fifth ranked team - on Tuesday night during a game played at Wien Stadium of Columbia University. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent saw their two-game winning streak broken and fall to 3-5 overall for the 2007 season. However, losing 13-0 to the 2005 and 2006 Division III National Champions represented a competitive night for the Mount's young program.
Freshman goalie Nicole Fortier - making her first career start - made 14 saves during the first half of play but the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team lost 13-0 to two-time defending national champion the College of New Jersey on Tuesday night during a game played at Mount Saint Vincent. The 3-5 Dolphins host Morrisville State on Friday.

TCNJ (7-1), coming off an overtime loss to #3 Gettysburg College on Saturday, scored four times during the game's first eight minutes before Mount Saint Vincent could have a possession on offense. However, as the first half moved along, the Mount's defense tightened up, thanks to Fortier, who made 14 saves during the first start of her career. Most of Fortier's saves were from point-blank range as the rookie was outstanding.

After the Lions extended the lead to 10-0 at halftime, the Mount Saint Vincent defense allowed only three goals and 10 shots during the second half of play as Horn stopped seven shots during the second half. The Dolphins managed five shots during the second half, but were unable to score against a TCNJ defense that has allowed only 5.6 goals per game this season.

Mount Saint Vincent also received a stellar effort from junior Alexis Alessi (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside HS), who had two caused turnovers and four ground balls, and fellow junior Cynthia Osorio (Rockville Centre, NY/Oceanside HS), who had two caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday, April 14 when they host Morrisville State. The start time and location for the game will be announced shortly.
