"Enter Here" for Enrico Giordano's Art Exhibit
8/18/2005 - Enrico Giordano, Associate Professor and Chair of the Fine Arts Department at the "Torso" acrylics, charcoal, oil on canvas 52" x 72"
College of Mount Saint Vincent, will show many of his works of mixed media art at
Kiesendahl + Calhoun Contemporary Art in Beacon, New York. The show is entitled “Enter Here” and will run from August 6 through September 12.

The pieces on exhibit are abstract and focus on autobiographical images from Giordano’s past. For instance, a hat in one of the pieces refers to millinery, the occupation of Giordano’s father and grandfather. A wine press in another piece harkens back to wine that was made in the Brooklyn cellar of the artist’s boyhood home.

“I find these images and experiences to be powerful metaphors for the creative process, since they share three essential elements: transformation, alchemy and ritual,” says Giordano. “They resonate in my consciousness and echo, like true archetypes, in the natural and urban environments around me. They become central to my work as they transform into anthropomorphic or more ambiguous shapes and forms.”
Giordano’s work has been exhibited in many galleries in New York, Maryland and Vermont and overseas in Denmark and Holland. A reception for the artist will be held at the gallery on Saturday August 6th from 5 to 7pm.
