Montclair State (5-3, 4-1 Skyline Conference) raced out to a 6-0 lead after the first quarter as the Red Hawks outshot the Mount 16-3 during the first 15 minutes of play. The lead extended to 9-0 during the second quarter before a Wong tally with 18 seconds remaining in the first half put Mount Saint Vincent on the board, and the Dolphins trailed 9-1 at halftime. Montclair would lead by as many as 14 goals before Wong and Jason Reynolds (Centereach, NY/Middle Country HS) scored less than a minute apart to make it 15-3, but a Red Hawk goal with 1:57 to play brought the advantage back to 13 goals to close the game.
Overall, Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 53-18 and the Dolphins struggled in their clearing game, converting only 23 of their 40 transition attempts, but otherwise the Mount played good lacrosse. The Dolphins won 10 out of 21 face-offs and scooped 25 ground balls during the game.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, April 11 when they visit Richard Stockton University at 7:00 p.m.
