3/31/2007 - All five Mount Saint Vincent Spring Sports were in action on Saturday with a mixed bag of results:

The Mount Saint Vincent Softball team turned in the biggest headline of the day when they split a doubleheader with 2006 Skyline Conference Champion St. Joseph's (LI) and were in a position to earn a sweep twinbill that was played at Sarah Lawrence College. The Dolphins won one of the most entertaining games in recent history during the opener when they rallied for a 14-13 win as the game went to nine innings. The nightcap was another back-and-forth affair with the Golden Eagles outlasting the Mount, 5-4 in eight innings. With the split, Mount Saint Vincent is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Skyline Conference play. Mount Saint Vincent travels to Centenary on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for a Skyline Conference doubleheader.

Speaking of big conference wins, the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team broke a school-record four-game losing streak when they rallied for an 8-6 win over upstart Farmingdale during a game played at Farmingdale. The Rams scored the first four goals of the game during a 14-minute span and appeared to be in control, but the Mount rallied to tie the score, 5-5 at halftime, and then outscore Farmingdale 3-1 during the second half to earn their second win of the season. The 2-4 Dolphins host Manhattanville College on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Wien Stadium of Columbia University.

In other action, the Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team competed at home for the first time this season, but was swept in a doubleheader by Mount Saint Mary, 13-4 and 8-5, to fall to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in Skyline Conference play. Mount Saint Vincent travels to Stevens for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday. The Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team lost its sixth straight game, 12-5 to Alvernia College during a game played at Alvernia. With the loss, the Dolphins are now 1-8 and travel to Montclair State for a 4:30 p.m. game on Wednesday. Finally, the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Tennis team lost 9-0 to Stevens during their 2007 season opener. The Dolphins host Maritime College on Monday.
