Women's Lacrosse lose 12-6 to Empire-8 powerhouse Soaring Eagles
Dolphins outscored 7-2 during second half; Comis scores twice during 2007 debut; MSV travels to Ramapo for Sunday morning showdown
3/20/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - Junior Chanel Comis (Durham, NC/Cardinal Gibbons) scored twice during her 2007 debut, and freshmen Kelly Martin (North Rockland, NY/North Rockland HS) and Katie Tucci (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville HS) each added a goal and an assist, but the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Lacrosse team lost its third straight game, 12-6 to fellow 2006 ECAC Upstate Semifinalist Elmira on Tuesday night during a game played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, the Dolphins fall to 1-3 for the 2007 season with all three loses being by single-digit deficits.

The first half was nothing short of a battle as both teams enjoyed scoring runs to hold brief leads. Elmira led 2-1 after 11 minutes of play when Mount Saint Vincent scored three straight times to take a 4-2 lead. Tucci scored her goal at 17:00 on a free position shot to tie the score at two. Comis scored her second goal of the game five minutes later to give the Mount the lead, and Martin feed junior Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon HS) with 8:34 to play in the first half to give the Dolphins a two goal advantage. However, Elmira scored at 5:38 to cut the lead to one, and then in a stunning series, the Golden Eagles (2-1) scored twice during the final eight seconds of the first half to take a 5-4 lead into halftime.

Elmira's late rally seemed to completely turn the tide of the game as the Golden Eagles scored the first two goals of the second half to extend their lead to three, and never looked back.

Also having a solid outing for the Mount was freshman goalie Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville HS), who made nine saves in a losing effort.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Sunday, March 25 when they travel to Ramapo College for a 10:00 a.m. game.
