Egan stopped eight out of 11 shots during the first quarter as the Mount trailed only 3-0 despite being outshot 16-1 during the stretch. DeSales (3-1), however, exploded for six second quarter goals and led 9-0 at halftime before the Dolphin defense tightened up during the final 30 minutes. Reynolds opened the scoring in the second half, netting an unassisted goal at 12:43 of the third quarter to make it 9-1, and sophomore Ryan O'Dougherty (Morristown, NJ/Morristown HS) scored four minutes later to make it 9-2, but DeSales scored the game's final four goals to net the victory.
DeSales outshot the Mount 46-12 as it was Egan's heroics in net that allowed the game to be closer. The Bulldogs also enjoyed a 54-32 ground ball edge, and won 10 of the game's 18 face-offs.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, March 21 when they travel to Kean University for a 7:00 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
