Ruckdaschel's fourth inning bases-clearing double proved to be a crucial blow as it extended the Mount's lead to five as the Dolphins pulled away from a solid Swarthmore team. Munroe was 1 for 2 but hit the ball hard every time as he enjoyed his second consecutive multi-RBI game. Zach Munroe (Milford, CT/Foran HS) also drove in two runs for the Dolphins.
Also driving in runs for the Mount were freshman Anthony Brestolli (Wyckoff, NY/Don Bosco), freshman Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, NJ/Warren Hills Regional HS), and sophomore Brendan Russo (Westbury, NY/Clarke HS).
But the story of the day was the pitching performance of Kirsh as he pitched five innings, allowing only one earned run while striking out five. He had fantastic command of his pitches throughout the game and provided a major bright spot during what has been a tough week for the Mount Saint Vincent pitching staff.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Thursday, March 15 when they face Penn State-Behrend at 7:30 p.m. as the action in Fort Pierce, Florida begins to wind down. The Mount faces Northwestern College on Friday at 12:30 p.m. to conclude their Spring Training trip.
