Sophomore Chris Dotoratos had a match-high 43 assists during a terrific performance, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team lost 3-1 to NJCU on Monday night during a match played at NJCU. The 8-13 Dolphins host Ramapo College on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. |
Despite an effort far superior to the one put forth by the Mount during a 3-0 loss to NJCU on Feb. 2, the Dolphins lost the first two game on Monday night, 30-16 and 30-18. After a thrilling 30-28 win by the Mount during the third game, NJCU held off the Dolphins 30-23 during the fourth game to take the match. The difference on Monday night was play at the net as NJCU combined for 19 team blocks while the Dolphins amassed onl y nine. The Gothic Knights (14-7, 7-4 NECVA Metro) also hit .360 while Mount Saint Vincent hit only .110.
Aside from Ross and Dotoratos enjoying fine evenings, sophomore T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS) registered 11 kills, while rapidly improving freshman Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, NY/West Hempstead HS) had another fine evening with seven kills, a team-high 18 digs, and 2.5 total blocks.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, March 7 when they host Ramapo College at 7:00 p.m.
