Men's Lacrosse opens 2007 season with a 12-1 loss to Hornets
Reynolds nets lone Mount Saint Vincent goal, Egan makes 14 saves, Dolphins travel to Maritime on Wednesday afternoon for Skyline Conference opener
3/3/2007 - (Winchester, VA) - Junior Jason Reynolds (Centereach, NY/Middle Country HS) scored his first goal of the 2007 season, and junior goalie Tom Egan (Nanuet, NY/Nanuet HS) made 14 saves during an outstanding effort, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team opened the 2007 season with a 12-1 loss to Shenandoah University on Saturday. Mount Saint Vincent made the trip to Winchester, Virginia for their first-ever meeting with the Hornets.

Mount Saint Vincent went toe-to-toe with Shenandoah during the first quarter as neither team found the net during the first six minutes of play, but Hornet tallies at 9:12 and 0:49 put the hosts up 2-0 after 15 minutes of play. It was the second quarter where Shenandoah caught fire, particularly due to Mount Saint Vincent penalties as the Dolphins played man-down five different times during the quarter, and Shenandoah converted three of the opportunities. The Hornets scored six times overall during the second quarter and took a commanding 8-0 lead heading into halftime thanks to a 28-4 edge in shots, and a 27-11 advantage in ground balls.

The second half saw the Mount turn things around as the Dolphins enjoyed a rally of sorts, outshooting Shenandoah 14-13 during the final 30 minutes of play as the Dolphins sustained several long possessions and nearly broke through with a goal during much of the second half. However, the Shenandoah defense did not budge until eight minutes remained in the game, when Reynolds made a terrific one-on-one move and fired a high shot to the upper corner to break the shutout. Reynolds finished the game with a team-high seven shots, while freshman James Green (Wyckoff, NY/Don Bosco Prep) led the team with six ground balls.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, March 7 when they travel to Maritime College at 3:30 p.m. for the Mount's first-ever Skyline Conference game.
