When you’re building a program from scratch, what seems like a minor step for most quickly turns into a banner moment. The first win, the first winning season, the first recognition that your program has officially “made it.” While the first two varsity seasons of Men’s Lacrosse at the College of Mount Saint Vincent has had their fair share of challenges, they have also had enough of the banner moments to lead Head Coach Pat Yannarelli and company to believe that the program’s building process is succeeding and the day is coming when the Dolphins will be more than just a competitive upstart trying to find its way. There have been nine wins over the program’s first two seasons, and enough competitive games against solid local competition despite a dizzying series of injuries and hard luck, particularly last season, that Yannarelli knows his team is a break or two away from shaking the “new program” tag and competing as an established, seasoned team that can compete for supremacy in the area.
