Seniors lead MSV JV team to conference semifinals; 7-13 final record
2/18/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - Mount Saint Vincent JV Basketball seniors Kareem Wright (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Hayes) and Matt Salamone (Fishkill, NY/John Jay HS) have been named to the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) All-Conference team as a result of outstanding performances during the 2006-07 season. The announcement was made Sunday at the conclusion of the HVMAC Championship Game between St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) and Berkeley College, won by Berkeley College. Wright and Salamone were instrumental in the Mount's trip to the HVMAC Semifinals during their first season competing in the conference and a 7-13 record overall.

Wright, a forward who ran the point at times for the Mount had an exceptional senior campaign, averaging 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists per game. His 25 points during a 66-56 win over Post University on Feb. 6 were a season high, and his outstanding play down the stretch helped lead Mount Saint Vincent to three wins during their final four regular season games. Salamone was the model of consistency for Mount Saint Vincent, averaging 8.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Both Wright and Salamone were starters for the Mount Saint Vincent JV team during the last three years.
