JV Basketball concludes 2006-07 season with loss to Knights in HVMAC Semifinals
Page scores 23 points, Greaves has monster game; Dolphins finish season 7-13
2/17/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - Freshman Travis Page (Norwalk, CT/Fairfield Prep) scored a career-high 23 points and added a team-high three assists, and fellow freshman Deveron Greaves (Brooklyn, NY/Grand Street Campus HS) scored eight points, grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, and added a career-high seven blocked shots, but the third-seeded Mount Saint Vincent JV Basketball team saw their 2006-07 campaign come to an end on Saturday with a 90-57 loss to second-seeded Berkeley College during the semifinal round of the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Basketball Tournament during a game played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, the Mount finishes the season with a 7-13 overall record. the 2006-07 season was the Mount's first competing in the HVMAC.

With Mount Saint Vincent's two leading scorers not playing, Berkeley (11-5) wasted little time taking over on Saturday, scoring the game's first 10 points and outscoring the Dolphins 27-6 during the first 10 minutes of play. From there, the rout was on as the Knights shot 52% during the first half and led 55-23 at the break.

The second half saw a swing in momentum as Mount Saint Vincent, led by Page, turned their play up a notch and at one point trailed by as few as 22 points, but a late Berkeley run brought the advantage to over 30 again. Mount Saint Vincent was outscored 35-34 during the second half as they 38% from the floor compared to Berkeley's 34%. Page scored 18 of his points during the final 20 minutes as he went 6 for 12 from the floor during the span.

Overall, Berkeley not only shot the ball decisively better than Mount Saint Vincent, but their 64-47 rebounding edge gave the Knights the extra possessions they needed to pull away early.

Berkeley advances to Sunday's HVMAC Championship Game where they will meet top-seeded St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) at noon. St. Joseph's defeated #4 Pratt Institute, 86-59 during the other semifinal.
