Sophomore T.J. Pufahl registered 15 kills, seven digs, three service aces, and a .400 attack percentage as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team swept Cooper Union, 3-0 on Friday night to improve to 6-9. The Dolphins host Baruch College on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. |
On Friday, a 90-minute delay to the start of play did not phase the Mount as the Dolphins wasted little time defeating Cooper Union, who was seeking their first win of the season. Mount Saint Vincent won the match 30-9, 30-21, and 30-14, during a performance so dominant that Callahan was able to go deep into his reserves and still get a terrific effort. Sophomore T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS) was back in top form after a tough outing during a 3-2 win over Bard on Tuesday night as he registered a match-high 15 kills against only four errors, had seven digs, three service aces, and hit an outstanding .440 despite playing sparingly once the Mount won the first game.
Pufahl wasn't the only one playing at his best as senior Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Rose) continued to sizzle. Williams had nine kills without committing an error and registered seven digs. He also hit a career-high .818.
Also for Mount Saint Vincent, junior Nick Canzano (Farmington, NY/Victor HS) registered a career-high nine assists and 11 digs.
Overall, Mount Saint Vincent hit .333 and had 46 digs and 5.5 total blocks.
The Mount has little time to rest from Friday's win as the current four-match homestand continues when the Dolphins host CUNY powerhouse Baruch on Monday at 7:00 p.m. From there, the Dolphins play six of seven matches against NECVA-Metro opponents, beginning with a Wednesday home match against SUNY New Paltz that begins at 7:00 p.m.
