Garlan named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week for Men's Basketball
Freshman averages 13.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 steals per game as Dolphins go 1-2
2/13/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball freshman Kevin Garlan (Jackson Heights, NY/Archbishop Molloy) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week this week after a tremendous stretch during which the Mount finished 1-2. During a Monday loss to Skyline Conference powerhouse Stevens that was far closer than the final score indicated, a Thursday win over Green Mountain College, and a Saturday loss to St. Joseph's (LI), the forward averaged 13.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game. Garlan is the second Dolphin to earn Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week this season.
Men's Basketball freshman Kevin Garlan was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week this week after averaging 13.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game during a 1-2 stretch for Mount Saint Vincent. The Dolphins return to action on Wednesday when they host Old Westbury for their final home game of the 2006-07 season at 7:00 p.m.

Garlan's finest effort was a 17-point, 5-rebound performance during a 70-49 win over Green Mountain College on Thursday that gave the Mount a 2-2 record during a four-game stretch. The forward was 8 for 12 from the floor during the game and also chipped in four assists and three steals during a tremendous all-around effort. During losses to Stevens and St. Joseph's, he scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, and he also pulled down seven rebounds against St. Joseph's. Overall, Garlan shot 51% from the floor (18 for 35) during the week.

For the 2006-07 season, Garlan is averaging a solid 11 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, and his 47 assists ranks third on the team. Garlan is also shooting an impressive 49.5% from the floor this season, ranking second on the team in that category.

Mount Saint Vincent is currently 3-20 overall and 1-13 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins close the 2006-07 season this week when they host Old Westbury on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and travel to Farmingdale State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
