2007 HVWAC Basketball seedings announced
Top three seeds receive byes; #1 Mount Saint Vincent seeks second HVWAC Tourney crown in three years
2/13/2007 - For the fourth consecutive season, Mount Saint Vincent and St. Joseph's College are the top-two seeds for the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Basketball playoffs. Mount Saint Vincent earned the top seed after storming through their HVWAC schedule, finishing 4-0 in Conference play and winning by an average margin of 31.25 points per game. St. Joseph's finished the regular season with a 3-1 record, losing to Mount Saint Vincent during the first weeks of the season. The wild card could be #3 Saint Elizabeth, who enjoyed a fantastic 2006-07 campaign, finishing conference play 2-2, but proving to be every bit as competitive as both Mount Saint Vincent and St. Joseph's, losing close games to both teams. The Eagles have won three straight games and six of their last seven games heading into the playoffs.

Rounding out the five seeds are #4 Yeshiva, who lost three times to #5 College of New Rochelle early in the season before defeating the Blue Angels on Feb. 1 to clinch fourth place and a playoff home game. Yeshiva hosts CNR on Thursday, Feb. 15 for the HVWAC Quarterfinals with the winner facing #1 Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday for the Semifinal Round at the Pratt Institute.

Should CNR defeat Yeshiva on Thursday night, the Blue Angels will face Mount Saint Vincent at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and #2 St. Joseph's will meet #3 Saint Elizabeth.
