JV Basketball records historic first HVMAC win, 66-59 over Pratt Institute
Page scores season-high 22 points as Dolphins even Pratt for third place in conference; HVMAC playoffs next
2/9/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - Freshman Travis Page (Norwalk, CT/Fairfield Prep) scored a season-high 22 points and seniors Matt Salamone (Fishkill, NY/John Jay HS) and Kareem Wright (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Hayes) combines for 23 points to lead the Mount Saint Vincent JV Basketball team to the biggest win this season, 66-59 over the Pratt Institute on Friday night during a game played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the win, the Mount improves to 7-12 overall and finishes the regular season 1-5 in Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) play after recording the first conference win in Mount Saint Vincent JV history. The Dolphins have now won three of their last four games and 7 of their last 12 overall.

It was all Mount Saint Vincent from the start as the Dolphins jumped out to an eight-point lead and never looked back as Pratt never made a run to pull things even. The Dolphins shot an outstanding 48% from the floor during the game and enjoyed a 46-31 rebounding edge to keep Pratt at an arm's length throughout the game. Page was simply incredible, not only leading the Mount in scoring and also adding four rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Wright and Salamone were dominant on the inside as Wright added nine rebounds and six assists to his 11 points, while Salamone scored 12 points and added six rebounds.

The win throws a major wrinkle into the HVMAC post-season picture as Mount Saint Vincent and Pratt are tied for the #3 seed with a 1-5 conference record, and they split the regular season series between the two teams. The issue as to which team will finish in third place will go to a tie-breaker that will be announced shortly. The #3 seed will face #2 Berkeley College in the HVMAC semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 3:00 p.m. The #4 seed will face #1 St. Joseph's at 1:00 p.m. that day. Both games will be played at Mount Saint Vincent.

An announcement as to the result of the tie-breaker and the final playoff seedings will be announced on Monday morning.
