Men's Lacrosse releases 2007 schedule
Dolphins' 2007 slate to include conference play as MSV joins Skyline Conference for Men's Lacrosse
1/31/2007 - (Riverdale, NY) - The 2007 Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse schedule will feature 14 games, 11 of which will take place on the road as third-year Head Coach Pat Yannarelli and the Dolphins compete in conference play for the first time after the Skyline Conference voted to sponsor Men's Lacrosse beginning with the 2007 season. As a result, the Mount will play by far its most competitive schedule, ever, as a strong non-conference schedule will complement a Skyline slate that promises to see parity from top to bottom. Yannarelli said he is excited by the prospects of competing for a conference championship for the first time and he thinks his team is up for the challenge.

"It definitely gives us a different perspective on things to compete in a conference because for the first time we have an attainable goal for the season," Yannarelli said. "I think our presence in a conference with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament represents that we have been successful at building this program to a competitive varsity team. Now we can focus on taking the steps towards reaching the post-season and ultimately competing for the Skyline Conference Championship. Building a program capable of competing in a great conference like the Skyline was the hard part. Now, it's a matter of continuing to recruit the highest quality student-athletes available and continuing to improve. I think this focus on improvement is going to be a theme for the season."

The Mount kicks off the season with a scrimmage against Skyline Conference Associate Member Richard Stockton College on Feb. 17 at 11:00 a.m. Two weeks later, the Dolphins will travel to Virginia to open the regular season at Shenandoah University for a 1:00 p.m. game. From there, the Dolphins enter conference play with a trip to Maritime College on Wednesday, March 7 at 3:30 p.m. After a trip to Briarcliffe College on April 10 for a 1:00 p.m. game, the Mount will embark on its Spring Break trip. On Tuesday, March 13, the Dolphins will square off with nationally ranked Stevens Institute of Technology, the six-time defending Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference (now Skyline Conference) champions. On Thursday, Jan. 15 the Dolphins will travel to Pennsylvania to face DeSales University. Two days later, the Mount visits Misericordia at 1:00 p.m.

After Spring Break, six of Mount Saint Vincent's last eight games will be against Skyline Conference opponents. The Mount will travel to Kean (March 20, 7:00 p.m.), before coming home for the first time when they host USMMA-Kings Point on March 24 at 11:00 a.m. Their conference schedule concludes with trips to Farmingdale State (March 28, 4:00 p.m.), Montclair State (April 4, 4:30 p.m.), and Richard Stockton (April 11, 7:00 p.m.), and finally a home game with Manhattanville on Saturday, April 21 at 4:00 p.m. Wedged within all of the conference games, the Mount will travel to Alvernia on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. and host Mitchell College on Saturday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m.

Mount Saint Vincent finished the 2006 season - their second at the varsity level - with a 2-9 overall record.
