1/16/2007 - (Hoboken, NJ) - Junior Derek Charlton (Yonkers, NY/St. Raymond's) had a solid outing with 16 points, five steals, and four rebounds, and freshmen Kevin Garlan (Jackson Heights, NY/Archbishop Molloy) and Lester Owens (Manalapan, NJ/St. Joseph's-Metuchen) combined for 22 points and nine rebounds, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball team lost 83-59 to S
Freshman Kevin Garlan scored 12 points and added six rebounds but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Basketball team lost 83-59 to Stevens on Tuesday night. Mount Saint Vincent travels to USMMA-Kings Point on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
kyline Conference powerhouse Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday night during a game played at Stevens. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 1-13 overall and 0-6 in Skyline Conference play.

Mount Saint Vincent battled early thanks to Charlton and Owens and trailed 12-7 just over six minutes into the game, but two separate 8-0 runs by Stevens allowed the Ducks to pull away for good. Stevens led 41-26 at halftime and never looked back.

The second half saw more of the same as Stevens extended the lead to 20 just over three minutes into the second half. The Duck lead was extended to as many as 26 before Mount Saint Vincent was able to close the gap a bit before a late Stevens run pushed their lead past 20 once again. The Ducks shot 49% from the floor, while Mount Saint Vincent shot 40%, and Stevens also owned a 42-32 rebounding edge.

For Mount Saint Vincent, Garlan scored 12 points and added a team-high six rebounds, and Owens scored 10 points.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 18 when they travel to USMMA-Kings Point for a 7:00 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
