Herman Badillo will visit the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday, January 31 to read from his new book One Nation, One Standard: An Ex-Liberal on How Hispanics Can Succeed Just Like Other Immigrant Groups. He will be introduced by New York State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz.
Badillo is a former Bronx Borough President and in 1970 became the first Puerto Rican elected to the United States Congress. He served four terms in the House of Representatives, representing the South Bronx. In One Nation, One Standard Badillo shares his impression of the role and status of the Hispanic-American community and examines why the growing minority group has struggled in the United States. He offers a unique perspective after a life-long career in public service.
The reading will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, in the President’s Reception Room of the College’s Administration Building. The College of Mount Saint Vincent is located at 6301 Riverdale Avenue, Riverdale New York. Facilitated by Paperbacks Plus Bookstore of Riverdale, this event is free and open to the public, and books will be available for purchase and signing. Call (718) 405-3341 for more information.
