Before graduating from high school, college bound students and their parents must learn an entirely new vocabulary—terms such as FAFSA, TAP, HESC, Stafford Subsidized, Pell and Work-Study—to help them through the financial aid process. The College of Mount Saint Vincent has designed a workshop to help area students navigate this important process.
The College’s Admissions and Financial Aid Staff will host three workshops to guide area students and their parents or guardians step-by-step through the online Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial Aid Counselors will also be on hand to answer questions regarding New York State aid programs and applications for student loans. These workshops will be held in the College’s Stephen J. Maloney Computer Center at 7:00 p.m. on the three following dates: Tuesday, January 30, 2007; Thursday, February 15, 2007; and Tuesday, March 6, 2007.
Tim Nash, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at the College says "The College of Mount Saint Vincent will be happy to assist any student in the difficult task of filling out the federal financial aid forms (FAFSA).” Students do not have to apply to, or plan on enrolling at, the College of Mount Saint Vincent to attend the workshops.
