"Frank Fanning stepped into a very difficult role at Mount Saint Vincent after we made the unfortunate decision to not sponsor Men's and Women's Tennis during the 2004-05 academic year. Frank came here to restart both programs, and during a year and a half he brought a lot of energy to our programs as both enjoyed strong showings, and a level of success. Unfortunately, the challenge of balancing his full-time job at Solaris Tennis Club with this position became too great and Frank will be unable to continue building our programs. We thank Frank for his efforts during the last year and a half, and wish him success in all of his future endeavors."
During two seasons as the Head Women's Tennis Coach, Fanning compiled a 9-14 overall record that including a third place finish in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) during the 2005 season, a fourth place finish in 2006, and he also coached a total of five All-Conference picks between the HVWAC and Skyline Conference, including the 2005 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year. Fanning also coached the Men's program to an 0-11 record a year ago during its first year back at the Mount after a one-year hiatus.
Ingram was quick to point out that she considers the Mount Saint Vincent position to be an outstanding opportunity for an individual seeking a College Head Coaching position, and that she feels that the program's status as a relative neophyte in both conferences to constitute a great challenge for whomever seeks this position.
"There is no doubt that Men's & Women's Tennis has a very bright future at Mount Saint Vincent, and with the right individual in place, I believe that building two great programs during a short period of time is not out of the question. As our other programs have proven, this is a school that attracts quality student-athletes in all sports, and I know there are a lot of strong tennis players out there who would love the opportunity to attend the Mount and compete here. We're going to open up this search right away, and I expect to have a coach in place very soon to lead the Men's team this Spring."
