Women's Swimming finishes third at HVWAC Championships
Cabahug, McGowan earn individual medals, Dolphins finish in top-three for third consecutive season
12/1/2006 - (Bronxville, NY) - Senior Maggie McGowan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Savior) and freshman Michelle Cabahug (Queens Village, NY/St. Francis Prep) earned individual medals, and the Dolphin relay teams earned medals in both events as Mount Saint Vincent earned a third place finish at the 2006 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Championships on Friday night at Sarah Lawrence College. Mount Saint Vincent - a second place finisher at the 2004 and 2005 events - earned 246 points to finish behind champion Sarah Lawrence (499 points) and runner-up Purchase College (336 points).
The Mount Saint Vincent Women's Swimming team finished third at the 2006 HVWAC Championships on Friday night, finishing behind Purchase College and champion Sarah Lawrence College. Dolphins Maggie McGowan and Michelle Cabahug earned individual medals, as did the Mount's two relay teams.

McGowan earned medals in both breaststroke events for the third consecutive season, earning second place in the 50-yard breaststroke (38.63) and third place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:26.33), an event that saw the record for fastest time at the HVWAC Championships fall. Cabahug had her finest night of the season, winning the 50-yard backstroke event with a time of 32.78, while finishing third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:12.88, more than four seconds better than her season-best time in the 100-yard event. McGowan and Cabahug were members of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished third place with a time of 2:15.69, and the Dolphin 200-yard freestyle relay team finished in third place as well in a time of 2:02.17.

Mount Saint Vincent is finished in competition for the Fall 2006 semester, but will return to action after the New Year. The Mount next competes at St. Joseph's (LI) on February 2 at 7:00 p.m.
