“Having been the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Mount Saint Vincent for three years before Tony Elmore arrived, I know how difficult this decision was for Tony, and I know that he made it with the best interests of his student-athletes at heart. Unfortunately, the demands of being a business owner have proven to be too great for Tony to continue as our Head Coach, and sadly, I have accepted his resignation,” Ingram said. “Over the course of three years, Tony provided outstanding guidance and leadership to the young women on our team, excelled as a recruiter, and most importantly, provided an atmosphere that was challenging, rewarding, and fun for everybody involved. We’re going to miss having Tony Elmore as our Head Women’s Soccer Coach and I know that the members of the team, our department and I owe Tony a debt of gratitude for three outstanding years of service.”
Over three seasons on the Mount Saint Vincent sidelines, Elmore registered a 20-25-1 overall record that included the 2005 Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Tournament Championship – the program’s first conference championship of any kind. Elmore was also voted the 2005 Skyline Conference Coach of the Year after following a 3-10 record in 2004 with a 10-7 mark that season. During the 2006 season Mount Saint Vincent finished with a 7-8-1 record that included a trip to the HVWAC Championship Game and one of the best Skyline Conference finishes in the history of the program as the Mount earned seven team points in Skyline play.
Elmore does not leave the cupboard bare as Mount Saint Vincent is expected to return more than 20 members of the 2006 team including all three All-Conference selections from this past season. Ingram said that she considers this to be an attractive position for the right individual looking to continue building a successful Women’s Soccer program at Mount Saint Vincent.
“This is a special program and a terrific group of young women who worked tirelessly for Coach Elmore to build one of the best programs in the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference, and one of the most improved programs in the Skyline Conference during a very short period of time. I believe that this is a fantastic position for the right person to not only work as a college Head Coach, but to also inherit a program that holds itself to high expectations and wants to succeed. I hope to have this position filled very soon with an individual who will not only work to continue on the team’s success over the last few years but who can also build on the success and take the program to new heights.”
