Maggie Tringali was enjoying a glass of wine at a reunion class meeting when a classmate nominated her for class fund agent. Maggie raised her wine glass at exactly the same moment and suddenly the election was over. That was 15 years ago. Maggie is still not quite sure what happened, but she’s been a fund agent ever since.
It is certainly a job she enjoys. “I’ve been
close to a great group of friends since college, but as
class fund agent I get to keep in touch with all my
classmates. I love that I know about all the fantastic
things happening at the Mount and I share that news with
my class.
“Asking for money can be hard, but I know it needs
to get done. Most of the time my classmates are very
receptive to my call. Occasionally, I will get frustrated
with those who will not give. I wish all alums would see
the importance of supporting the Mount.”
Maggie grew up in Massachusetts and was first introduced to the Mount by Alice Carey ’24, whom she met at her mother’s religious gift shop, and “that’s how a country girl from the Berkshires ended up at Mount Saint Vincent!” Maggie graduated with a degree in fine arts in 1971 and is now an associate art director at Greenwich Magazine in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Maggie’s role as class fund agent led to more Mount involvement when she was elected as a director of the Alumnae/i Association Executive Board in 2003. She now serves as second vice president and can often be found on campus volunteering at College events. “I am so happy I have the opportunity to meet the current Mount students. I know if more alums met the students, they would be inclined to give to the College.”
