Kube, Heesemann earn Basketball Rookie of the Week honors from HVMAC, HVWAC
Duo average more than a dozen points per game during weekend action; Heesemann named to Skidmore College Tip-off All-Tournament team
11/21/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) - Mount Saint Vincent JV Basketball freshman Ralph Kube (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon HS) and Women's Basketball freshman Courtney Heesemann (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park HS) were named Basketball Rookie of Week by the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC), respectively, this week after outstanding weeks of play for both inside players. Kube was named to the All-Tournament team during the HVMAC Tip-off this weekend, while Heesemann earned All-Tournament honors at the Skidmore College Invitational.

Kube has been a bright spot for a JV Basketball team.  He has three double-doubles this season, including two during the team's last two games. For the week last week, he averaged more than 15 points and seven rebounds per game as Mount Saint Vincent lost games to Berkeley College, Cooper Union, and NYU.

Heesemann began her Mount Saint Vincent career with a bang last weekend, averaging 15.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game during a 1-1 stretch at the Skidmore College Invitational. During a close loss to Ithaca College on Saturday, Heesemann scored 15 points and recorded nine rebounds. The next day, she 16 points and pulled down five rebounds as Mount Saint Vincent won for the first time this year, 78-22 over York.

The Mount Saint Vincent JV team hosts Berkeley on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 4:00 p.m., while the Women's Basketball team travels to St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. for a rematch of the 2005 and 2006 HVWAC Championship Games.
