Sarah Lawrence clinches HVWAC Swimming Championship with dominating win over Saint Elizabeth
Gryphons win HVWAC regular season crown for second straight season in undefeated fashion; HVWAC Championships on Dec. 1
11/19/2006 - (Convent Station, NJ) - Freshmen Rachel Schneider and Sarah Leatherbarrow enjoyed commanding performances performances and the Gryphons' Women's Swimming team captured first place in 13 out of 14 events as Sarah Lawrence clinched the 2006 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Regular Season Swimming Championship with a 90-32 win over Saint Elizabeth on Saturday. With the win, Sarah Lawrence improves to 6-0 overall, including 5-0 in HVWAC competition.
Sarah Lawrence clinched their second straight Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Regular Season Swimming Championship with a 90-32 win over Saint Elizabeth on Saturday. The Gryphons swept through the HVWAC schedule with a 5-0 record and will look to win their second straight HVWAC Championship meet on Dec. 1.

The championship is the second straight for Sarah Lawrence as they have not lost to an HVWAC opponent since November of 2004.

Schneider and Leatherbrow were part of a 200-Medley Relay team that earned a commanding win in 2:12.88, and the rout was on from there. Schneider also took first place finishes in the 100-IM, 200-IM, and 100-Free, while Leatherbrow won the 50-Free. The duo also helped lead the 200-Free Relay team to a win. Also for Sarah Lawrence, Hannah Palmer, Alex Brostoff, and Vivian Charlesworth also captured multiple first place finishes.

Overall, Sarah Lawrence swept through the HVWAC schedule by an average score of 132-82. The Gryphons will look to capture their second straight HVWAC Championship Meet crown on Dec. 1 when the Conference Championships take place at Sarah Lawrence College.
