Women's Basketball opens season with 67-50 loss to Bombers at Skidmore Invitational
Freshman combine for 40 points during collegiate debut; Dolphins to face York in Sunday's consolation game
11/18/2006 - (Saratoga Springs, NY) - Freshman Courtney Heesemann (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park HS) scored a team-high 15 points and added nine rebounds, and fellow freshman Lauren Percodani (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) added 13 points, but the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team opened the 2006-07 season with a 67-50 loss to Ithaca College during the first round of the Skidmore College Invitational. Mount Saint Vincent will play York College in the consolation game on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.

It was a game far closer than the score indicated as the teams went back and forth for much of the game. Ithaca led 29-28 at halftime but Mount Saint Vincent quickly made their presence felt during the early stages of the second half and briefly held the lead during the second half. Ithaca, however, pulled away down the stretch. After Mount Saint Vincent cut the deficit to 51-48 with 9:10 remaining, Ithaca went on an 18-2 run to close out the game with the 17-point edge.

Overall, the teams played fairly evenly as each team grabbed 39 rebounds and Mount Saint Vincent turned the ball over 26 times while the Bombers turned it over 25 times. The difference came down to shooting as Ithaca shot 40% from the floor while the Mount shot 33%.

Mount Saint Vincent's efforts featured 40 points, 17 rebounds, and seven rebounds by their six freshmen.
