Women's Swimming loses for first time, 52-28 to powerhouse Hawks
Dolphins travel to Sarah Lawrence for huge HVWAC clash on Thursday night
11/15/2006 - (New York, NY) - Facing one of the strongest swimming programs in the region, the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Swimming team lost for the first time during the 2006-07 season on Wednesday night, falling to CUNY powerhouse Hunter College, 52-28. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 4-1 for the 2006-07 season.

The meet got off to a good start for the Mount as the Dolphins' 200-Medley Relay team took a second place finish as the team of Michelle Cabahug (Ossining, NY/Ossining HS), Maggie McGowan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Savior), Marie Garcia (Medford, MA/Medford HS) and Andrea De La Torre (Valley Stream, NY/Mary Louis) finished in 2:15.86, mere seconds behind Hunter's top team. However, from there, the Hawks dominating the evening capturing the top two spots in all but one race the rest of the event.

The Mount's lone second place finish in an individual event was turned in by freshman Kim Abbott (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy HS), who was the runner-up in the 1000-Free, finishing in 3:27.90.

Mount Saint Vincent now has two of its most important meets of the season coming up as they travel to Sarah Lawrence College on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. for a head-to-head meet with the defending Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Champions. On Saturday, the Dolphins travel to USMMA-Kings Point for the Skyline Conference Championships.
