Known for her prowess on the basketball court, Burud played competitive tennis for the first time in her life this season, and as the year moved along developed into a truly outstanding tennis player for the Mount, winning four times during the regular season at #6 singles, and enjoying a successful run in doubles competition as well. At the HVWAC Championships on Oct. 29, Burud truly shined, winning the #6 singles flight and becoming one of only two singles competitors not a member of the champion Cooper Union team to win a singles flight. Burud is now one of a select few athletes to earn All-Conference honors in two sports as she was an HVWAC All-Conference basketball player during the 2005-06 season.
Fraino, a team captain, had an exceptional season to the point where she was the #1 seed for the #5 singles flight at the HVWAC Championships. Although she ultimately lost in the finals of that flight, her leadership and outstanding play on the court this season were a major factor behind the Mount's success. Fraino, who earned HVWAC Player of the Week during the season, earned her first conference award during her second season on the team.
Mount Saint Vincent's 4-7 record during the 2006 season included a 4-3 mark in HVWAC play.
