Women's Soccer closes 2006 regular season with 3-0 loss to STAC
Dolphins outshot 29-4 during third straight loss; HVWAC Semifinals next
11/1/2006 - (Ramapo, NY) - Junior Alexis Alessi (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside HS) stopped six out of nine shots, but the Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team lost 3-0 to St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday during a game played at STAC. With the loss, the Mount ends the 2006 season with a 6-7-1 record. The game was the Mount's final tune-up prior to the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) playoffs when the Dolphins host Medgar Evers in the Conference Semifinals on Thursday.

STAC put the game away during the early going as senior Kimberly Griffith scored all three of the Spartans goals, two of which came during the first 26 minutes of play. From there, STAC rolled to victory, outshooting the Mount 29-4 as the Dolphins were never able to get on track offensively.

Mount Saint Vincent will seek its second straight HVWAC Tournament crown this week. Thursday's 2:30 p.m. game with Medgar Evers is a rematch of a classic game on Sept. 27 in which the Dolphins battled back from a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in overtime. Should the second-seeded Dolphins win on Thursday, they will meet the winner of the Saint Elizabeth - College of Staten Island semifinal on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the College of Staten Island.
