Men's Soccer closes 2006 regular season with 3-1 loss to Blue Knights
MacDonald scores lone Dolphin goal in fourth minute; HVMAC Championship Game next
11/1/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) - Senior Chris MacDonald (Farmingdale, NY/Nassau CC), playing in his final career home game, scored his 10th goal of the 2006 season, but the tally was not enough as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team closed the 2006 regular season with a 3-1 loss to Mount Saint Mary in a game that was played at Westchester Community College. With the loss, the Dolphins finish the regular season with a 4-13-1 record, including an 0-9 mark in Skyline Conference play.

MacDonald wasted no time getting the Mount on the board, scoring after a spectacular individual effort at 4:00 to give the Dolphins only their second lead in Skyline Conference play this season. The goal gave MacDonald the Mount Saint Vincent points lead with 28 this season, and he now has 60 points to his credit during a three-year career.

However, the lead was short-lived as Mount Saint Mary (10-8-1, 4-4-1 Skyline Conference) struck back with a controversial goal three minutes later as Dolphin goalie Fitzroy Lawson (Yonkers, NY/Mannings) made a save, but appeared to be knocked down during the play and dropped the ball. The rebouond was deposited by Mount Saint Mary's Chris Lahar (Walkill, NY/Walkill HS) and the game was tied. 13 minutes later, the Blue Knights took the lead on a Johnny Guerrero (Maspeth, NY/Cathedral Prep) goal that was followed by Lahar's second tally of the game seven minutes later. Mount Saint Mary led 3-1 at 24:00, and neither team would score the rest of the way.

Mount Saint Mary owned a 21-18 shots advantage and had six corner kicks compared to the Mount's two as their depth took over as the game moved along. Lawson was solid during his third career appearance in goal, making 14 saves, while Blue Knight goalie Kyle Reiss (Oxford, NY/Oxford Academy) made nine saves, including two spectacular diving saves during the second half.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action one more time this season when they compete in the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Championship Game on Sunday, Nov. 5. The top-seeded Dolphins will face the second-seeded Culinary Institute of America at 12:00 p.m. The game will take place at Culinary.
