Men's Soccer blanks Webb Institute 5-0 in HVMAC Semifinals
MacDonald nets seven points as Dolphins advance to finals for second time during last three years; MSV travels to Culinary on 11/5
10/29/2006 - (Riverdale, NY) - Senior Chris MacDonald (Farmingdale, NY/Nassau CC) scored a hat trick and netted seven points and junior Martino Cecere (Rye Brook, NY/Blind Brook HS) made nine saves to record his first shutout of the 2006 season as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team downed Webb Institute, 5-0 on Sunday during the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Semifinals played at Westchester Community College. With the win, Mount Saint Vincent improves to 4-12-1 and advances to the HVMAC Championship Game for the second time during the last three seasons.

Both teams got off to sluggish starts thanks to a heavy wind that did not relent throughout the game, but MacDonald was finally able to break through in the 20th minute as he scored his seventh goal of the season after an incredible individual effort. 32 minutes later, MacDonald struck again, scoring off of an assist by sophomore Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY/Salesian) to make it 2-0, a lead the Dolphins took into halftime.

The second half was much of the same as the Mount controlled possession. Junior Chris Herrera (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep) scored in the 68th and 74th minutes to increase the lead to 4-0, and MacDonald scored his third of the game in the 84th minute for the 5-0 lead. Overall, Mount Saint Vincent outshot Webb, 24-13 and had 11 corner kicks to Webb's three.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 1 when they host Mount Saint Mary at 2:00. Then it is off to the Culinary Institute of America on Sunday, Nov. 5 at noon when Mount Saint Vincent will attempt to capture their first ever HVMAC Tournament Championship.
