10/24/2006 - (Riverdale) - It's safe to say that
Roxanne Predergast (Center Moriches,
NY/Westhampton Beach HS) and
Jessica Thorn
(Farmingdale, NJ/Colt's Neck HS) have seen it all
during their four years as members of the Mount Saint
Vincent Women's Volleyball team. As freshmen, they won
a Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC)
Championship together. As sophomores they helped guide the
Mount through a rebuilding year that set up another HVWAC
Championship a year ago, and an incredible 2006 campaign
that has seen the Mount come close to their first Skyline
Conference post-season berth and challenge for another
HVWAC crown. With all of the highlights and career-defining
moments these two have shared, it was only fitting that
they would rally the troops for a dominant 3-0 win over
Marymount on Tuesday night. There simply wasn't any
other way for the duo to finish their careers in the Mount
Saint Vincent gymnasium.

includes just below 900 assists and more than 500
digs, were instrumental in the Mount's latest win, a
victory that improves them to 13-10 overall, and 7-1 in
HVWAC play. Predergast, in typical fashion, had the hot
hand, registering a team-high seven kills and seven service
aces, while Thorn finished with nine assists. Mount Saint
Vincent swept the match with scores of 30-11, 30-5, and
30-7 as every Dolphin contributed to the win.
Also for the Mount, freshman Bridget
Leonard (Poughkeepsie, NY/Lourdes) chipped in 13
assists and an incredible 10 service aces, while freshman
Tara Mead (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River
HS) contributed a team-high seven digs.
Senior Night may mean the end of an era for Mount Saint
Vincent, it does not mean the end of a season. The Mount
returns to action on Thursday night when they travel to
Sarah Lawrence for a 7:00 p.m. match that will determine
the #2 seed in next week's HVWAC playoffs. The
Mount's draw for the post-season will be announced
early next week.
