Freshman Noelle Ebbitts (Long Island, NY/Newfield HS) and junior Kaitlin Burud (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook HS) were victorious at first and sixth singles, respectively, and paired to score an 8-0 win at first doubles as the Mount cruised their most impressive win of 2006. Only one time, a 10-9 win by freshman Karen Laurent (Queens, NY/St. John's Prep) in which she won a 7-3 tie-breaker, did CNR break five points in a single match, and the Dolphins held New Rochelle to three points or less six times, including 10-0 wins at first and third singles.
Also enjoying outstanding performances were sophomore Jessica Lorenzen (Pembroke, NH/Pembroke Academy), who scored a 10-3 win at third singles, Megan Fraino (New City, NY/Clarkstown South HS), who won 10-5 at fourth singles, and Carol Donnelly (Somerset, NJ/Sacred Heart), who scored a 10-2 win at fifth singles.
Doubles action featured a win by Fraino and junior Kathleen Nealon (Maspeth, NY/St. Francis Prep), who scored the first win of her collegiate career.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to the court one last time prior to the Oct. 29 HVWAC Championships. On Thursday, they travel to Saint Elizabeth for a 4:00 match.
